SWEDISH RELAXATION STRESS REDUCTION

Swedish Relaxation and Stress Reduction is designed to work the Circulatory and Superficial Nervous Systems using slow flowing strokes and a light pressure.  This massage improves circulation by manually pumping and moving fluids.  It also relieves tension brought about by everyday emotional stresses.  It is very light and easy and does not access the muscles directly with any specific work.

 

MYOFASCIAL DEEP TISSUE/PRESSURE

Myofascial Deep Tissue and Deep Pressure is designed to address specific muscular and joint issues.  It is used to improve posture, enhance muscle quality and efficiency, release muscle knots and Trigger Points, and reduce adhesions/scar tissue from overuse, poor posture, accidents, and injury.  After direct tissue and muscle manipulation, one can work and perform more comfortably and with less aches, pain, and strain.  This work can be performed with a light to hard pressure depending on the client’s tolerance to intensity.

NOTE:  Pressure/ Pain feedback on the table is very important with this work.  Soreness and Stiffness is common a few days after.  Bruising is a possibility with sessions involving intense pressure over specific areas if you are Anemic, prone to bruise, have thin blood, or have been over worked with little sustenance for long periods of time.

 

Sports massage

Sports Maintenance is a combination of stretching/ flexibility, Myofascial Deep tissue/pressure and relaxation.  Designed with an athlete’s specific sport in mind, this massage aids to increase muscle efficiency for better performance and is done in between competitions and performances to keep the body in tune with rigorous workouts.  It can also be used to increase a specific function of ones athletic ability and /or alleviate any muscle/ joint strain from injury or overuse.

Pre-Event and Post-Event Sports Massage can be used by an athlete just before or after an athletic event.  These sessions usually combine stretching and flexibility with range of motion to increase joint mobility along with muscle compression and jostling to warm up or cool down the body.  Pre-Event is not to be used in place of a regular warm up, rather it is used to perk the body up just prior to a warm-up.  It is normally done on site fully clothed on table or floor.  Post-Event uses easy stretching, muscle compressions, and jostling to calm the body down after a performance and/or competition to soothe the muscles and joints from the high demands of athleticism.  It can be done on site fully clothed on a table or floor, or like a regular massage on a table unclothed.

 

shiatsu based eastern massage

General Shiatsu Based Eastern Massage is done in loose comfortable clothing on the floor.  As I do not specialize in Shiatsu, part of my degree is in 5 Element Theory Shiatsu. This Massage combines the techniques of Tui-Na, Shiatsu, and Stretching to increase Qi flow and blood circulation and to tonify and disperse acupuncture points along the Meridians of the body.  Palming, Jostling, and Stretching are combined with Acupressure point work to balance the body and bring it into an energetic homeostasis.  It is very light and soothing.  Western aspects of Polarity Therapy, Craniosacral, and Reflexology Techniques may also be used.

 

couples self-care & Couples Massage

Couples Self-Care is a basic learning session (2 Hour Minimum) designed for the couple that likes to massage one another but gets tired easily and is unsure of what they are doing.  Done in your own home, with proper guidance, one partner is worked then partners switch and we work to address the other.  For each partner, a quick anatomy lesson identifying the sore points is given followed by suggestions for techniques to be used to address these points.  Hands, as well as the use of household items are used with proper body mechanics to get the most out of your partners massage.  Self care techniques are given to each partner for when the other is away.

 

Couples Massage is a special rate to cut the cost of massage for couples or roommates within the same household.  Sessions are administered in the same location and immediately after one another with a 15 minute break in between each session for the therapist to rest, stretch, and replenish fluids.

 

group sessions

Group Sessions are a great way to cut the costs of massage and enhance your small party or function.  As a host, you can choose to buy a block of my time.  There is a 2 Hour Minimum required and sessions are roughly 15-20 minute back rubs per person. 

 

NOTE:  Payment is made in full before the beginning of the First Session by the Host.  You are paying per hour, not per person.  As a Host, you will be required to be on the premises at all times.  You do not have to be in the room where sessions are performed, but you do have to be in the Apartment or House at all times, no exceptions.  A 15 minute break is required after every 2 hours so I may stretch, replenish fluids, and take a breath.

 

 

chair massage

Chair Massage is a great way to relieve stress and tension quickly.  It is done on a special chair designed for the sole purpose of receiving massages. Hire me for employee appreciation day, or get a buddy and hire me privately for a quick release of tension.   Chair Massage is great for your next gathering, fundraiser, or party.  When performed on multiple people, each session is approximately 15 minutes in length.  Here also, you are buying my time per hour, not per person.  There is a 2 hour minimum.  I will require a minimum 15 minute break for every 2 hours of work so I may stretchy, replenish fluids, and take a breath.

 

stretching & flexibility

Stretching and Flexibility are normally done within a regular session.  However, a pure session based on stretching and flexibility can be done.  Administered on the floor in comfortable and loose clothing, range of motion exercises, tense and relax techniques, as well as a variety of PNF techniques may be used.  Heat can be added at the beginning to loosen up tissues and cold can be applied after to bring the body back in balance after serious work has been done, just ask.  Since there is not too much involved, sessions of pure stretching and flexibility need only be 30 or 60 minutes depending on what areas you want worked and how intense you want to work.

 

cupping

Cupping is a method of pain therapy taken from Chinese Medicine and used by Acupuncturists and Body Workers.  From an Eastern perspective, cupping encourages smooth flow of Qi and blood and clears any local stagnation in the channels of the body.  From a Western perspective, Cupping brings fresh blood to an area, improves circulation, and releases the Myofascial layers of the tissues below.  A vacuum is created inside the cup thereby pulling the underlying tissue into the cup itself.  Cupping can be done by itself in a 30 minute session, or can be combined with other modalities in lengthier sessions.

NOTE:  Cupping should not be done if you have High Fever, Skin Disease, or a tendency to Bleed and/or Bruise easily.  Even when performed correctly, cupping will create marks and bruises. Cups are not left on for more than a few minutes in one locale.

 

ice & heat massage

Ice and Heat, although not a session by themselves, can be used in conjunction with other modalities to either loosen or calm down specific areas at the clients request.  Occasionally I may suggest an ice massage or heat application, but they will only be administered with the client’s approval.  With Heat, towels are moistened, heated, and then applied to the areas in need.  Heat is good for areas that are stiff, dull, achy, and could use a little more circulationFor Ice, water is frozen in small cups and gently rubbed on the affected area.  There are 3 stages of ice application, 1) The client feels cold, 2) The client feels pain, burning, stinging, and 3) The area is numb to the client.  Stage three is generally the goal with ice massage, however, ice is removed when either the client asks for its removal or the numb stage is achieved.  Ice is good for muscle spasms, overstretched areas, inflammation, and areas that are too sensitive for work with any specific deep strokes or techniques.
