MY STYLE

My Massage Philosophy can be summed up in one word: BALANCE.  It is my theory that the body as a whole needs to be addressed in regards not only to fitness and nutrition, but to tissue quality as well.  To adequately balance the body and bring it into a nice equilibrium, a person should not only exercise and eat right, but incorporate bodywork into their fitness regime as well.  When we see all those hard bodies on TV owned by professional athletes, we naturally think of them as exercising, practicing their sport, and eating healthy.  But we rarely think of what types of bodywork they might be doing to enhance their workouts and performances.  Being a former athlete, I know how important bodywork such as Massage Therapy can be.  Massage helps to balance this process of body improvement by aligning posture, improving circulation, and manipulating tissue to  help it work more efficiently.

Primarily, I use deep pressure and very specific work to attain an over-all body balance and maintain the body in peak performance.  They are also used to alleviate muscle soreness from sporting activities and job related physical stress.  I like to think of my work as body detailing;  I am not here to fix or heal your body, but I can ASSIST IN: improving posture, enhancing physical performance, maintaining muscle efficiency, reducing scar tissue from healed muscle injuries and other types of sports and activity related problems, alleviating nerve impingements, and maximizing your body’s potential.

I prefer to give 1˝ and 2 hour Sessions as I feel this time frame allows me to thoroughly work specific areas of the body while at the same time addressing the rest of the body for an "over all balance.".  For this reason, my rates tend to favor these time frames.  50-60 minute sessions do not give me, the therapist adequate time to address specific issues and bring the body into this nice "balance."  And most 90 Minute sessions can really break your wallet if you are supporting your own physical well-being.  How many times have you gone to get a massage and gotten great work done on your back and one leg, and then left the massage feeling a bit "unbalanced" because the rest of the body was not worked?  And how many times have you paid that really expensive rate for the 90 minute session and found the work to be "OK" at best?

I try very hard to keep my clients from feeling "unbalanced" after a massage so I offer longer sessions at rates comparable to my training and expertise.  Also, I like to talk to my clients before their massage to get a feel for exactly what they are looking.  By doing so, not only are they assured to get their monies worth, but my work will not feel rushed during a session.  My training is very vast and I have a lot of techniques at my disposal, with proper communication I can usually find the right strokes, pressure intensity, and techniques for each individual client.

NOTE:     I do not specialize in energy work, verbal imagery, emotional healing, nor do I practice medical massage for the treatment of serious systemic injuries and diseases, pregnancy, and geriatric issues.  Although I have the abilities to do all the above and may incorporate some of the techniques involved into my sessions, I feel there are better therapists that can meet these types of needs.  If you are looking for any of the above, I can give you referrals if necessary.
