Lecture:  This class will discuss the many uses of Hot & Cold therapies as well as discuss the Primary & Secondary Reactions of Hot and Cold on the body.  When to use hot, when to use cold, the proper way to apply hot and cold, the use of contrast bathing, Epsom salt baths, and ointments such as Tiger Balm will also be explored and discussed.  Thermal Injuries will be covered, time permitted. 

 

 Hands-On:  This class will teach students how to utilize hot and cold towels, hot and cold stones, and ice cups to address tissue and create a physiological temperature pump of the circulatory system.

 

What to Bring to Class:  FLAT Sheet (size Full or Double), 2 Towels (Approximately 25-30" width X 40-50" Length), 2 Hand Towels, Cream/oil, loose comfortable clothing, such as sweats and t-shirts. No Jeans, dresses, skirts, or tight fitting clothing.  Optional:  Bolster

Recommendations:  Although not required, this class is highly recommended to be taken prior to many of the Injury and Rehabilitation Workshop Classes.
